Update on Button

I have good news to share with you about my Button.   The parents took Button to the special lady doctor and although her legs are still not completely working, Button is able to move her legs a little more.  I saw Button using her back legs a little the other night when she was trying to get behind the entertainment thing-a-ma-jig.  She does feel when someone is touching her leg.  The lady doctor told us to take Button off her small dose of Metacam (pain medicine) and they told me to watch her to make sure there is no discomfort on her part.  If there is, I will tell Dad and Mom about it.  I will let our neighbors know too.

Button has been off of Metacam for a few days now and all is well.  She is more alert than ever and boy is she climbing around in the living room.  She even helps me to chew on my, I mean, our chew toy.   Button is doing well and we are all thrilled about it.

I knew things would be okay,
Maisy Bug

  3. My parents' evil cockatoo, Clover, was a serious Metacam junkie for many years. They weaned her off slowly because the vet was worried about her liver and kidneys.
She was on it to begin with for anxiety (she was a rescue bird who had been abused, needless to say), and my parents had another rescue cockatoo before her that was on liquid Prozac. Seriously. I would love to see the day that it is illegal to keep, breed and sell cockatoos. They are colony birds and have no business living with people.
It's good stuff if a baby needs it, but I notice that she is a lot less neurotic without it.
My bunnies like it, but when I have to give it to them, they are in a wicked daze for twelve hours.
